Ashwani Kumar is poet, author and Professor at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Mumbai). His books include My Grandfather’s Imaginary Typewriter (Yeti Books, 2014) and Community Warriors (Anthem Press, 2008) among others. His poems, irreverential and whimsical voices of memory, have appeared in Indian Literature, Post-Colonial Text, Indian Quarterly, Little Magazine, International Gallerie, Tempevolgy, Tiszataj and other journals. His new collection “Banaras and the Other’ is just out from Poetrywala at Renault Mumbai Poetry Festival. His articles and reviews have appeared in Financial Express, Business Standard, The Hindu, Indian Express, DNA, Outlook etc. He has also been visiting scholar at London School of Economics, German Development Institute, Korea Development Institute, University of Sussex & North West University in South Africa. Presently, he is a Senior Fellow of Indian Council of Social Science Research.
