Satya Misra (b.1952) shot to fame in early seventies of last century as a pioneer of new wave fiction in Odia. His first volume of short stories ‘ Bahubachan’ was published in 1973 after which he disappeared from the literary scene, which intrigued his readers. After a prolonged hibernation, he resurrected himself in 2013 and recaptured the slot vacated by him earlier. His second and third volume of short stories have been published in 2019 and 2022. His stories are firmly rooted in daily lives of average individuals, often delving into their psyche without appearing intrusive. Some of his stories, in translation, have appeared in Indian and international magazines.
